Transcend 720 SSD – The benchmark

The name „Trascend“ is probably familiar to most end users. The company has become popular in recent years through USB sticks and SD cards. If someone is so strongly represented in the memory market like Transcend, he will not wait long with the next storage product. In this test we want to introduce the Transcend 720 SSD with 256 GB (find it here). Read about what it can do and if it is a buy recommendation.

Introduction

At the beginning we should mention the promises of Transcend. The memory manufacturer advertises the Transcend 720 with a reading speed of 560 MB / s and a writing speed of up to 540 MB / s. With this information, the goal is clear. You do not want to end up in the midfield. This SSD is for the top.

As already mentioned, the reading speed of the Transcend 720 SSD is at about 560 and the writing Speed by 540 MB / s. This values can only be reached with a SATA-III connection. Otherwise, the flash drive does not differ greatly from other Solid State Drives.

The weight of the Transcend 720 is 95g, it has NAND flash memory and 2.5 “ Inch of size. It should also be noted that it comes in a very simple housing. The case is dark gray to black on the front and just a big sticker was affixed. Transcend seems to say by the design, why would you even put a lot of money in a design when the hardware will be build in the pc or notbook.

The Conclusion

The Transcend 720 can be found in the good upper middle range, which is a good to very good result. However, it can not quite keep up with the top models of Kingston and OCZ. From the SSD’s price is currently higher than the SSD’s from the other manufacturers. May cause it is still quite new. The Transcend SSD is a favorable SSD and a realy recomendaton.
