Introduction

The Samsung 840 Pro is the „pimped“ version of the 840. Of course the pro version also comes with a SATA 3 port. The read and write speed is also identical, 540 MB / s and 520 MB /s. However, the first difference, the memory size, to the 840 version is small. The Samsung  840 Pro got 250 GB, the 840 Pro 256 GB. But there is an additional difference which is noticeable only at a second glance. The Samsung 840 has 3 years of warranty, and the pro version 5 years. But also in terms of the power, the upgraded Pro Samsung SSD 840 have got more to offer. It offers 100,000 IOPS when reading and 90,000 when writing . The little sister has „only“ 96,000 or 62,000 IOPS.

The Conclusion

For the first time in the Supportnet SSD tests we got an amazing value above of 100000 points. For a long time the OCZ Vertex 4 was the best SSD if you look at the AS-SSD total score. Now two brothers passed by. The fast 840 and the even faster Samsung 840 Pro.
